Secrets of A Happy Beach Trip
If you finally make that fantastic trip to the beach and are now ready to establish your spot, there are a few things to remember. The tide does come in and does go out. We all like to get close to the waves, but having to move can be no fun. Or, even worse, returning from a long walk to find everything wet.
While everyone knows there are thieves working the beach there is one you would never suspect—seagulls. If you have food out or accessible, they will take it. They are fast enough to even snatch it directly out of your hands. They are very cunning.
The sun can be extremely hot on the beach and the necessity of a beach umbrella can be indispensable. This is the one item that many tourists have a hard time understanding. Why do some people’s umbrellas constantly blow over and others stay firmly in place? The answer is a sand anchorthat you can also purchase to fit the bottom of the pole of your umbrella into. This clever little device screws its way into the sand and firmly anchors the umbrella. Sometimes you have to look for it in the stores, but well worth the search.
And finally the most important beach advice—suntan lotion. The sun is always hotter than you think and the full effect will not be felt until hours later. Yes, it does wash off and needs to be reapplied. This is especially true during the middle of the day. And that umbrella you’re hiding under will not totally save you. Use the suntan lotion and have a great time on the beach. Look for me at www.sirjohn.org, I’ll be wearing me hat. If you don’t see me then check out my blogs at www.sirjohn.org/bloglist
